Post subject:  locking ring main sheet

Just bought 97 H20,

I was not able to release the top locking ring when trying to lower sail.
Knot on ring forward too. Also, correct twisted shackle.
:P

Use a judicious amount of Sail Lube on the bolt rope. Change the knot to a buntline to reduce the size of the loop.

The boat needs to be pointed into the wind, downhaul off, boom off, pull the sail all the way up, keep tension on the halyard and rotate the mast to move the hook away from the ring, keep the rotation on and release the halyard, keep the rotation on and pull the tack of the sail down as you allow the rotation back to center. Works every time.

Post subject:  FAQ

I have a detailed FAQ on sail hoisting in the FAQ section (top topic) of these forums.

http://www.hobiecat.com/community/viewtopic.php?t=371

<<...To release... fully release the downhaul and outhaul. Partially feed the sail up the luff track. Hoist with the halyard to the top till it stops, hold... rotate the aft of the mast base to starboard, hold the mast rotated, ease the halyard a few feet before releasing the mast. Lower the sail.>>

If you've got two then that's twice as many as Maui.

Where do you sail in the Phoenix area? I'm there every February to attend the NHRA races at Firebird.
