If any of you Hobie 20 racers are looking for a crew for the 2016 NAC's, June 8-11, at Ocean Springs, MS, I'd appreciate it if you'd give me a shout. I owned and raced a 20 from 2008 through 2012 and would enjoy jumping on somebody's boat for this regatta. Stats: 5'10, 180lbs, 53-years old. Logistics will be easy for me since I'll be vacationing in the Florida panhandle during the week prior, practically already in the neighborhood.

I've got to do some tuning to my H20 over the winter to get it race ready but i'd love to have you for crew ( or skipper ) since you're more knowledgeable than myself! Got a new crisp jib and getting a new trampoline soon. All rigging new this spring. I plan on bringing it down to S2S and Island Hop in OS MS as well. If you're there maybe you can look it over and tell me what i need to get. Boat is in overall good shape. Picked up a set of EPO2's in graphite to use if those are much better than stock. Helm is very neutral as it is. I'm in the market for a late model Mainsail if you happen to discover one.

Tim

A few Ca boys might be interested in flying out and skippering if there are boats available. I could even bring an "A" set of sails or two......

I'd even be good with pulling my boat down ( I'll be there a week long ) and letting another crew and skipper use my boat for races while I hitch a ride on a committee boat and spectate. And or casual sail after races are over to get some good learning in!

Gotta be honest. After looking at the NOR, fees, insurance issues, registration, lodging, travel expense and realizing i'm gonna need well over $3000 in maintenance ( new tramp, mainsail ect ) to get my H20 ready and stay 100% OEM and in any kind of competitive condition whatsoever, I'm going to have to pass on the event or just show up to spectate.
I can perhaps talk Jay (commodore) from OSYC into letting me leave my H20 on the beach at the club for someone to use for the regatta if anyone wants. I sail my 20 at all OSYC open class regattas that I can, usually 3 per summer at a week each. Hulls are solid and tight, mast is straight and the boat rights easily in a capsize.
