My son in his incident at the end of April also had the Masts collide and there is cracking on his comptip and damage to the other one.
Given that this is a high stress area, I believe it has to be replaced.
The Hobie 20 Parts Guide shows a new Comptip part Assembly to be part no. 40401210.

Matt - what does the Comptip assembly come with? does it come with MAST HEAD CASTING and HALYARD HOOK or do all the parts from the previous Comptip have to be transferred?

I know that you have to drill out the Main Tang Rivets to remove the Comptip
Any suggestions on pulling the old comptip out of the Aluminum? I thought Jeremy used to heat this up for they are Glued/ Epoxy'ed in. Main Tang Rivets are 12 X 8010181 (RIVET 3\16 X 1\4 SS PAN HEAD) and require Rivet Caps. I will also use Lanocote for corrosion when remounting.

On inserting the new Comptip, what is the recommendation for Epoxy / Glue?

Thanks

Dwight Manning
