We plan to store our H20 at Lake Canyon Yacht Club with the mast up for a good portion of the year.

Should we coat the Comptip with anything to protect it from UV? A cover wouldn't be practical, with how hard it would be to remove and reinstall every time we want to sail.

Thanks.

I would shoot it with rattle can spray paint in the color of your choosing. Otherwise the fiberglass will eventually break down from UV exposure.

Do you think it matters what kind of paint? Latex vs enamel?

I'm not an expert in paints. I would just use Rustoleum or Krylon spray paint for plastic. Something suitable for outdoor use. That's what I did to clean up a comptip that had spent years in the sun and that I was planning to store for the season with the mast up. The paint lasted for a couple years and once it started to deteriorate, I just gave it a light sanding, masked it off, and re-shot it. You just need something that will stop the UV from penetrating into the fiberglass.
