I am reviving a 1995 H-20 and it seems that many H-20 sailors have moved to Tigers. I used to race 20's in the late 90's and they were on the upswing. What is the deal?

The Midwest and Northern Cali regions still have a lot of H20's racing. We reguarly have 12+ at regattas in Kansas and Oklahoma. The coastal regions appear to be focusing on spin boats.

It does seem like the coastal areas haev a lot of spinnaker boats. I dont' know how they do it. We are 15+ knots here all the time. It seems like the boats would be more of a handful with a spinnaker.

it is a lot to handle with the spin, but i would never go back. i was a little apprehensive about it cause of the comp tip but there haven't been any problems. makes me actually WANT to go out in <10 knots. ahaha

I used to run a P-19 spinnaker on my old boat. So why have so many people moved away from the 20's?

If you sail 20's in the midwest we have a great turnout every regatta. Usually 12 to 20 boats. Lots of great sailors too.

We have at least eight Hobie 20s in the Miami area. Unfortunately only 4 of them race with any regularity. Another active H-20 owner from Miami just moved to Atlanta. There are several other active H-20s around the state of Florida. I am trying to build the fleet down here in Miami. I have had my 1993 boat for 13 years and still think it is a great boat. I don't know what else I would buy if I decided to switch.

We have one guy who needs a good used mainsail for his boat. Anybody have one they want to part with?

We had four H-20 is our fleet race last week. You can read the account if you want here. http://www.catsailor.com/forums/showfla ... Post116303
We had problems with a big storm. Three of the four H-20s went over, including mine.

The spins look like alot but actualy settle the boat down in big wind. Boat gets smoother and the bows get more lift. After a season and a half my wife is hooked on flying the kite. If you spin rig the 20 then you carry the same rating as the tiger.
