Post subject:  Traction on the wire
I just bought a used H-20 and I'm concerned about loosing my footing in the trapeze. On my old H-16 I'd coat the rails with neoprene and sail barefoot. That combination gave me plenty of traction. How's the best way to go on the H-20? I haven't seen any H-20 neoprene kits in either the Hobie or Murray's catalog. There is a nice kit available for the H-18, all precut for it's shrouds and crossbars. Is there any particular footwear that works best? I've not had my boat on the water yet, but those hulls sure look slippery. I look forward to your suggestions. :?

bought some of this http://hydroturf.com/products.php?cat=Sheets%20of%20Hydro-Turf cut in strips about 3 inches wide and stuck it on the side. Ran it from rear beam to a few feet fore of front beam.

Found that sailing shoes or trapeze boots (with something more than a fabric top) are a good idea on the 20. Too much stuff to snag appendages on.

John,

Could this material be placed over the edge and along the side? My stock tape is coming off and I'm looking to replace it. It looks like this stuff would be great. I'm just concerned how it handles being over edges or if you would want it on the top surface at all and not be able to slide your bum along the top. BTW, that is a great visual aid, it really helps with describing the product. :D

Maybe you could slit it with a knife at the deck line? I've got the top just below the deck line on the side only. This stuff is too spongy and sticky to slide around on easily while sitting on the deck.

It took me a while to focus on back the of the Sea Doo. Something must have distracted me. You'll probably cause a big spike in Hydro-Turf sales. :D
