Thanks

I think part of the problems is that the division is in transition mode - from old volunteers to newly elected/coerced volunteers.

Thanks for the replies guys. Apparently, I need to look for Division 6, as I am in Corpus Christi. I used to sail in Division 14 many moons ago, but I am further south now.

Does anyone have any info on Division 6?

Having been unfairly abused and berated for commenting on Division 6 before, I'll let someone "in the know" comment.

Ledfoot2,

I started a discussion on the Division 6 section of the Hobie Social Network site. I detected some frustration with Div 6 in The Dog's brief reply, above. Apparently these guys don't participate in much of anything that's Hobie affiliated. On the Texas City Dike Yacht Club's site I found a Notice of Race posted for a regatta this week near Bryan. It was sponsored by "Division 6 and Fleet 407" on Lake Somerville. It was billed as an open multihull regatta. I'm not to keen on trailering a boat six hours after work on Friday to race Portsmouth against a bunch of spin-boats. I accidently stumbled accross their website: http://groups.google.com/group/division-6. I sent an email (posted on the Social Network) to all of the Division 6 fleet contacts listed on the HCA-NA site asking them to start listing thier events in the Hotline and on the social network site, but something I once read gives me the feeling this group has some issue with the HCA or vice versa. I think their sponsorship of open multihull regattas might be at the root of it.

Do you know anything more about Division 6 and their clandestine mode of operations?

How about you, Dog?

By the way, the TCDYC site is http://www.tcdyc.com.

Thanks,

MVD

If you want some help setting up an event in div 6, contact me off list and we can get something going. There is a few areas of the US that have adopted open class regattas, and some that have not. Div 6 has a large number of Hobie Cats in it, just not OD racing is all. It just takes a few guys to decide to organize one and off we go.
We (HCA-NA) will help in any way we can to get something going down there.
