Coming up is a long distance race from Richmond Yacht Club to Stockton. That is 75 miles of downwind, hopefully, fun!

There are about 10 Formula 18 planning on sailing it already. If you would like the evite I sent around email me and I will put you on the list.

You can see a simulation fly over of it here: Delta Ditch Fly Over

Dan,
Is this an annual event?
I don't recall seeing it before. This would be worth the drive down from Seattle. And having played in that area for years, I know you'll have a wild ride.

Yes, this is an annual event. Very popular race in Bay Area. Thanks to Dan DeLave and Pease Glaser, there seems to be enough F18s coming for a class designation.

A quick look shows the tides look favorable. http://tbone.biol.sc.edu/tide/tideshow.cgi

Old School 18,

I think the Delta Ditch Run is the old Inland Trans-Pac (SF to Stockton) reincarnated.

This race was the most FUN I've had on a sailboat in awhile, great wind, great weather, great competition. I'll be back next year for the 20th running of the Ditch Run.

Hey JB. I did take them. It only took me about a thousand shots to get one right  I bought a Canon 40D for taking pics from the Surf City Skiff. I figure that I spend so much time chasing you guys around the course I might as well gear up to snap some photos. Keeping the salt water out of it is going to be a challenge!

Jay and Pease Glaser first to finish. It was a great race! The top 4 boats traded leads the entire day.

I had a blast.
7 hours ,119 nm , 2 flips , 1 grounding , bent boom and still had fun.

no pictures of our stuffs? We had a couple close calls but no capsizes, no running aground, etc. I think Delave and us were the only beach cats that didn't capsize, I guess we weren't pushing hard enough. The only nerve racking thing was the speed boat racers towing water-skiers going like 60 mph on an oval course right in the middle of the small channel at Pittsburgh just past the smoke stacks.

Thanks again for following us Jeremy. Next year we'll hopefully be able to stay for the party, from your call on Sunday morning it sounded like it must've been a fun one.

By now I am sure that some other F18s will be joining us on our next years Delta Ditch Run adventure. It was a hoot! Save Saturday June 12th, 2010 for the 20th anniversary of the DDR.
