I can live with the 2 piece pole. It was the fact the connection holes are off. I'd have to redrill to connect the pole, and the holes may touch. 2 holes right next to each other recipe for slop. and I use a different pully tack line system and the new pole has stripped out screws holding on the loop for the bridle / pulley.
Not to worry Jeremy is taking care of all those issues. I spoke with Greg on the 2 piece issue at the Ditch Run.

I never went negative, Smart asp yes but not negative.

The 2 piece pole is a non issue. The stripped fasteners however warrant a new pole coming your way. Sorry for the inconvenience.

I thought the hardware was riveted? Shows what I know.

Edit: Pop the cap and there are nuts in there. Grab them with a wrench and tighten, they are through bolted.

Does anyone else have problems with the tack pulley not running the sheet properly and getting damaged?

I've gone through two pulley's in one season because the rope catches the plastic housing rather than the pulley. It makes a groove in the pulley which the sheet keeps going into and eventually makes it useless.....and very, very difficult to pull in and out when raising/dropping the kite.

Most of our sailing's in windy conditions - 18 knots+ so not sure if our timing or sailing angles could be contributing.

The problem I have with the two piece is that if you rivet or bolt it together, and want to run an internal tack line, you have that much more stuff for the line to catch on on the inside.

I recently saw a really slick setup on an AHPC boat for running a seperate tack/halyard line that allows you to release the tack by just pulling the halyard down. I think I'd like to setup my boat this way, it cuts down on the amount of line, and is still single hand friendly.

Hi Gav - re tack block. I had exactly the same problem and replaced the tack block with a Harken loop block - these are the ones which tie via a few spectra loops rather than fixed via a becket. Works really well because it allows the block to take up the best position hence doesn't get caught with the consequent burnt cheeks. :D

If you can use it without riveting or screwing together I would think it is great! Then you can put it cleanly in the box everytime you trailer it. This is the concept of the 2 piece Windsurfer masts. Look at the bright side of this...

Another solution to the tack line falling off the tack block is to thread a cable tie through the middle of the sheave and around the outside & trim the loose end off. This way the line can't fall off!

Works a treat, even after the plastic is worn. No need to buy a new tack block either. :D

I'll post a photo if I get a chance.
