head of mainsail condition

I have noticed that the head of the main pops out occasionally. The cloth is partially pulled out from the headboard and the headboard is deformed somewhat. I suspect the pin is flattened somewhat.

How can I check the pin angle?

Should I disassemble the headboard and tuck the cloth back in?

I tend to crank the Cunningham, although I do less now as it pops the head if I do.

I am a recreational sailor. I sail on a large lake and don't go out intemtionally in big blows. (Sometimes fate intervenes )
