buying a used Tiget or H18. Are the hulls of the Tiger prone to damage in the sand, surf and trailering more than the 18? If taken care of which lasts longer? Can a tiger be fited with wings? Any other suggestions? Thanks Dan

The only question I can answer is that no the tiger does not support wings.

Actually, there are three types of wings that can be added to a Tiger. You can see the three options on the Hobie Europe site.

the Tiger is a little more delicate than the H-18. I have owned both and love both boats. I prefer the Tiger over the 18. On the tiger use cradles on the trailer and the beach wheels.

One benefit of the H18 is the availability of parts. A zillion of these boats were made and you can always find a part you need, either new or used, online and shipped to you in a few days. I'm finding that the parts for the Tiger take much more effort to find. Only a limited set can be found directly online, so you have to contact a dealer, who then has to contact Hobie directly, and the part numbers shown on the drawings don't match the US part numbers, so I've had to wait a few days just to find out if a part is available and the price.
