Hello good folks.

Would anyone know is there an upper wind limit for when you suggest not use the gennaker on a Tiger? We are moderately experienced and have heard of some people not use them in high winds. Our crew weight is combined is 155kgs. Thanks in advance.

I noticed in big winds in the Americas cup they didnt use the code zero, just wondering if the same applies. Perhaps not given they are so much faster :)

Hobie really should also bring out a foiling F18, is there any chance??? (Like Sail Innovations Flying Phantom :) Looks like that's where we are heading woo hoo :)

My guess is that you can't use the Gennaker if the apparent wind is forward. The AC72's, once on the foils, would "outrun" the Gennaker so it's only used downwind when they aren't on the foils.

So my guess is you can use it until you can't use it.

For the recreational market, a foiling cat isn't practical, in my opinion. Hobie is fairly well geared towards that market so I doubt they'd do it. But I can't speak for them.

Don't hold your breath for a foiling cat.

We have a LOT of experience in the foiling market through the TriFoiler. For a lot of reasons, I would not go there on a cat.

Same high expense, fragility issues, limited conditions as the TriFoiler then add the safety issues of sitting on top of a platform unrestrained. You saw that in the cup races, people get pitched off in gybes and tacks and they had pits to stand in. On a cat you are sitting or kneeling and at higher risk of slipping off... not the kind of thing we are likely to promote.

Add to that our history of covering (warranty) and commonly consumer's mistakes in operation... gets expensive fast, so we try to design more durable and reliable products these days... our consumers expect it.
