What's about an inch and a half round and about eight feet long that rattles?

A Tiger boom with a previously drilled out rivet bouncing around inside! HA!

OK, I've had my boat over a year and the rattling has driven me a little crazy since I like to keep a tight ship. I just tried drilling out the front two rivets on the front end of the boom but the end cap is still pretty tight.
Q: do I need to drill out the third and forth rivets on my boom? I wouldn't think the front end cap would be that long and that the third and forth rivets are holding the out haul line inside the boom.
Q: does this fitting usually fit tight? It is plastic in an aluminum boom. I wouldn't think there was any corrosion that would keep it from coming out?

Any help here?
The parts diagram didn't help much.
Thanks

Pop the plastic cap off the other end?

Finally did just that. Drilled out the two rivets at the back and popped off the plastic cover.

Back at the front end of the boom. Found out the plastic piece has a metal sleeve that the sliding metal rod (don't know the technical name) that connects the boom to the mast slides in.
Anyway, you can't really drill out the rivets in the normal fashion as you can't punch the rivet threw.
I just drilled out and removed the old rivet and installed new aluminum rivets (since the plastic fitting fits so tight). There is no way that bugger is coming out unless you destroy the whole piece.

On to the next project, tighten the tramp and get some sailing in over the holidays
