Great video and cool pictures.

I am curious as to wind speed... and how far down you kept your daggers.
Looks to me like your daggers were nearly all the way down.

I was taught that if you are double trapping, boards should be at least 1/2 way up,
and if the wind is more than 12 knots, perhaps only 2/3 the way up.

Any comments?

Hi John

in both videos wind speed was variable between 15 to 20 knots, as the GoPro was pointing form the spinnaker pole is filming from up to down for this reason is not easy to understand from the videos the real waves hight cause images seem flattened by the camera. Nevertheless in both videos we are single trap with such big waves we wanted some stability so the dagger are all the way down. we tried do sail double trap , but the amount of water spray as we speed up doesn't make it easy to achieve and you can see it yourself. We are working on it and i hope I'll be able to post a new video in double trap in big waves !!

any suggestion are welcome

I wish you all a Happy New Year

Try dropping the traveler down and sheeting in. Follow tuning guide for windy conditions. Lass mast rotation, more downhaul.

Judging by the sagging of the forestay (jib luff), I'd say the rig tension is a bit loose for that wind speed. Looks like big fun!

Hi Rehmbo and happy new year to everyone !!

yes I'have noticed the looseness of the rig myself too.

I guess is a matter of hulls shaking a lot in waves but I'll try to make it stiffer next ride !!

Hallo Dray , as you can see I had the main sail rolled up to the first batten in order to have the boat underpowered. as i had the sail modified by a sail maker in rome I cannot use classic rigging tricks for that condition. on the other hand I can tell you that a couple of times I've tried to sail with all the main sail up and believe me it was really like riding a wild horse. So we chose to have less power and more fun . We like it so much in big wave so....

Kind Regards

Fabio
