Hoi folks,

I have bought an HC 18 Formula cat from the year 1992.
I'm looking for the assembly manual for this type of boat for that year?
I have an assembly manual from a hobie 18 from the year 1978, but there are differences between then and the later maded models.
I have also downloaded the manual from the HC 18SX & 18SE but is this the right manual ? I don't think so.
The Formula was followed by the tiger, but the manual from the new tiger is totally different if yopu want to use is to set up a formula 18 boat.

I don't understand the exact difference between HC 18 - 18 Formula - 18SX - 18SE ?? Can someone give me a clearly explanation ?

Thx in advance for your help guys,

Greetz from Belgium !

Yep, it is confusing.

A boat built in 1994 and called a Hobie 18 Formula could be what we know as an SX or maybe even a white painted Hobie 18.

When the SX first came out, the sails had the name "Formula" screened on them within the flying "H" logo. These were produced by Neil Pryde for Hobie Cat Europe as the new model Formula 18 in Europe. At that time Hobie Cat USA had just presented a line of white painted boats and had called them "Formula 1" models, so to limit even more confusion, we called the new vertical cut, mylar and taller rigged boat a Hobie 18 SX.

If the sails are vertical cut and mylar... it is an SX.
