Good day Hobie Land. Bought a H16 about a year ago and fell back in love with cats. Raced a couple regattas but mostly rage here in south Florida intracoastal and atlantic. Looking to go faster and learn new skills. This Tiger is for sale, good price point, and looks good. Any advice for those who’ve transitioned and what to look for?

Most of this advice is second hand... hopefully someone with first hand knowledge can contribute.

Compared to your H16:
F18's are wicked fast boats, but they take a lot more skill and $. They are more delicate. Rigging the boat takes more time.

If you want to be competitive with F18's you need a modern boat. Since 2003 improvements have been made to hull shape and sail/rigging design.

If these 'issues' don't concern you, an older (2003) F18 could be a great boat. You will learn a lot and then you will go much faster.

“You know, everyone says that moving from H16 to Tiger is scary. That it's hard to see your old friends, learn new things about the social world, and be alone in a place where you don't feel like you belong."

I didn't listen at first. I was too focused on making it through my last year in high school before coming here. But now that I've been here for awhile? It's really not so bad. Sure there are some things I miss about H16 (mostly my friends), but there are other things out here worth getting used to too...
