Post subject:  Tigers victorious at Eurocat
I am not a Tiger sailor, but noticed that the Tigers cleaned up at Eurocat in a field of 125 F18's....see results below! It probably also helped to have sailors like Bundock/Ashby and Mischa Heemskerk holding the tiller! :D

Long distance race (May 2nd):
1. Heemskerk/Tentij (Hobie Cat)
2. Bundock/Ashby (Hobie Cat)
3. Mourniac/Citeau (Hobie Cat)
4. Vaireaux/Petit (Hobie Cat)
5. Booth/Nieuwenhuis (Hobie Cat)

Overall standings of bouys regatta (May 1 and 3):
1. Bundock/Ashby (Hobie Cat)
2. Heemskerk/Tentij (Hobie Cat)
3. Besson/Jarlegan (Nacra)
4. Mourniac/Citeau (Hobie Cat)
5. Booth/Nieuwenhuis (Hobie Cat)

Yep, it looks like hiring the right guys is more cost effective than developing a faster boat. :wink:

Bundy and Glen are fast yes, a big step above the rest (that's because they are Aussies!!), but I'll bet the other guys are not that much faster than the guys on the NACRA and Capricorns.

SO whats going on?

The up coming F18 Worlds will give the 'rest' an opportunity to prove this point as I believe Darren and Glenn are not racing?? Is that correct?

The NACRA is standing on the shoulders of the 10 plus years of Tiger development, so it would be a reasonable expectation that is should be a more modern and faster boat, otherwise why bother?

Claus - Sailing a Hobie is about more than winning. Only one boat ever wins a race and for 80% + of us that never ever is us!!

The Challenge for Hobie cat is to make the Tiger and F18 fleet less costly and more attractive and to continue to help the organisational wings of the classes to grow.

We have a major problem with decining fleets in Australia and we need to act now before we disappear.

Kylea, I own a Hobie in order get spare parts fast and I like the relation with my Hobie dealer. From personal experience, I however do have the feeling that the Infusion is slightly faster than the Tiger, at least at lighter winds upwind and with heavier winds downwind. If sailors like Bundock/Ahsby, Heemskerk, Booth, or the top french teams do win races, for me it is not an argument that the platform is faster, as this posts seems to indicate. How about "Bundock/Ahsby, Heemskerk etc," victorious at Eurocat?

ps. Bundock/Ashby figure in the participants lists, as well as you. Hope to meet you here in Spain!

Ding Ding Ding Ding, we have a winner! Last year's winner of Eurocat, correct me if I'm wrong, was Mischa Heemskerk, on a Nacra Infusion. This year's winner, on a Tiger, is...Mischa Heemskerk. Wow, boat or sailor? hmmmmmmmm

Well Pointed out.

For most of us sailing a "Brand Manufactured" boat is our preferred preference, for others they are paid to perform.

Hobie, Nacra, Capricorn all have been strong performers in the Australia F18 Fleets.
