I have a hobie 16 in Ventura California. The nearest fleet is 100 miles South in Long Beach. I do not get it. The Tiger Worlds were held in Santa Barbara recently (app. 20 miles north of Ventura), and the Hobie 16 national will be held in Ventura this summer. All incredible beach cat sailing grounds. Why are there no Hobie fleets in this area??? I have always sailed Hobies, in different countries, never raced, but would like to. However Long Beach is quite a trip. Matt? :(

Matt Hang in there. The guys in my fleet are just now starting to stir I drive a hour oneway just to attend our fleet meetings. IF you meet the guys in Long beach you may find someone who lives closer to you. Travel is apart of racing a hobie. I'm planning on up to six hours to Race or hang out depending on the wind. hopefully Hike Out. No reason to piss off the wind gods yet.

Calm seas and strong wind to ya

Post subject:  Ventura?

There are fleet sailors up there, maybe not an active organized fleet though. We had originally looked into Ventura for the event because of an annual regatta held there. The Bluewater is July 9th and 10th. People say it is one of the best of the year. Great launching area at the Ventura harbor mouth.
