J-

I was on the dead chase boat stationed 100' down wind of the start and 200' from the leeward mark on Sunday. It started 8-10 and ended 12-15. The wind was surprising as the boats left the beach with 0-1 and hazy overcast. The last race Greg crewed and they still sailed away from the fleet. Truely remarkable. Maybe Jacques can sail as well as he claims.

:-) Just giving you a hard time Jacques, you know we love you.

On the dead chase boat, when I remarked that the motor started like the battery was going dead and the old gentleman reassured me that the boat had been this way for the last few days, I should have known to step off the boat at the dock. When I suggested that we not turn off the motor, that we had plenty of fuel and he said "really, it's been no issue", I should have jumped on another boat. Instead, I sat at anchor with a dead boat and no tow in as all the boats were needed as the wind built. It was a nice day on the water, but a 10 minute battery swap would have saved us both a day of being trapped on the hook.

One last note, Karen from Hobie was there to send the boys off in the morning. Her smile and personality brightened the hazy day. Always great to see you with the crew Karen.

Karen my sister? Yeah, you're right, I like having her around too.

...Hence, the boat name. :D

Thanks for the report, Mike.

Hey Matt,

I have Rosetta Stone Mandarin. Do you want me to bring it up with the loppers?

I know it's off topic, but you are going to China? New Asian Market? Need anyone to carry bags, lace tramps?

Really? The CD set? That could help. "I need a cold beer"... " I need... uh... Yep, that could help!. Australia has 60 boats they are sending... and staying I understand.

My wife said she'd be your official translator for a small fee of a new Wildcat.

Hey John,
Matt is correct...but - Its the week 'before' China - so it kind of depends on whether or not they will require 'all' of us to be there for the build days. My vote would be to sail in Racine and then fly to China the day after (since we are the defending NA F18 team) but something tells me we probably aren't gonna be there :(

Poor little jacques!

I can help you (and Greg) out of this delema. I will go with Matt and the rest of the build team to China to set up and help run the races. You can stay home and take care of my dog, the lizard, the two newts, the four little birds, and the salt water fish. Don't forget to pick up the poop and mow the lawn while you are at it.

Matt, I will need to hold onto the Mandarin lessons just a bit until I am more fluent, then I will drop it by. I'll reveiw it again on the flight later as it is going to be a long ride to China.

Jacques...

Sailing in Racine will give you and Greg a chance to fatten up before going over to China...unless you like to eat things that crawl on the land, swim in the water or fly thru the air

Hopefully we'll see you there and you'll be able to defend.
