I'm not saying anything else other than this is a beautiful carbon overlay on what was a noodly comptip.

Almost as nice as a one piece mast.

The question is this a repair or alteration?
Is this not a similar question to the conductive tiller extension question that is currently open for is this repair class legal since this is carbon fiber added? If the resultant repair is non-conductive, is this OK? If I wanted to do this to my 20 mast to allow me to run spinakers in open class without breaking the comptip, would this still allow me to run class legal? (George Pedrick has a separate all carbon fiber mast for open class sailing)

My Hobie 20 mast is now 11 years old and I don't know how often you need to repair / replace the comptip since there is a lot of stress on a Hobie 20 comptip.

Rules state:
"MASTS
4.1 The mast design shall not be altered in any way except for the attachment of fittings and equipment for flying open class third sails or reefing"

(And Craig at Elkhorn does excellent work as shown in the picture below - it does look nice)

Whose boat is that? As I understand it the comptip is carbon fibre. Looks awesome. Ryan
