I am new to the forum and new to the Hobie racing seen, I am trying to locate the nearest active fleet. I am located in Central Florida. I know that Fleet 120 is in Panama City but that's a little far for me. Does anybody know if there is a closer fleet? Thanks Scott

Here is a few things that may help that were sent to me:

www.fleet111.com is going to have an event at the rudder club www.rudderclub.com at teh St. john's River where the MUG RACE has been held for like 50 years.
www.fleet80.com from Daytona has the Summer Sizzler and Space coast Cats. Fleet 45 has an event on teh Bananna river (I don't know when) and there is fleet 11 in Orlando that do things.

I hope that helps, we're working on getting a few HCA events in central and southern FL but it take a little time.

I am a member at Gulfport Yacht Club (just south of St. Petersburg,
http://www.gulfportyachtclub.com). This is a dedicated cat club with club races twice a month, with usually 10-20 cats racing on Portsmouth (Acats, F16-18s, h16-14 etc). Unfortunately the central/west Florida Hobie racing scene is not very active, we might have a H16 fleet at some of the Harken series events, but that is about it at the moment. Our club is actively trying to increase Hobie participation (at the moment we only have two H16s that actively race), and there is interest by the club officers to resurrect the hobie fleet if we can increase our hobie membership.
Non members are welcome to participate in the club races (usually 3-4 races on saturday pm) for $10, which includes dinner at the club afterwards.
This weekend we are having our two-day spring regatta, and it looks like we will have close to 40 boats participating, but only a handful of Hobies have signed up so far. Other fun regattas are the SCCA Kelly Park regatta (first weekend in June, Friday-Sunday), the Daytona Summer Sizzler (don't know the date yet, usually towards the end of June), and the St. Eustis regatta (usually held in the middle of October), each of those had a H16 fleet last year.
Anyways, feel free to drop by anytime!

Bring your boat this weekend (Sept 30 - Oct 2) up to Lake Eustis for the Wildcat Regatta. Very friendly yet competative racing out of a great facility at the Lake Eustis Sailing Club. Go here for more information: http://teamloewen.com/.

The 2012 Charlotte Harbor Regatta will be February 2 to 5, 2012. We have had a good Hobie 16 and Wave fleets, plus the F18's. Come on Over!

How can I find out more? I am in Tampa and would gladly make the trip to meet some new sailors.

This is the newest info I can find for this fleet but I know they still meet once a month on the Banana River (or maybe Indian River).
