Race this weekend sounds like its going to be fun. Wind predictions I saw were 15mph gusting to 25. That could change though
Polecat, if your 2 boats show up, my boat, my uncle's boat. another guy from Mississippi may be coming, and maybe another boat from Montgomery. Hopefully we will see 6 16's out there. I can't think of any recent years where we have had that many boats in a class.

Please no one race single handed. :D
single handed may be a handful with the wind we are suppose to get.

I saw that forecast too. Hopefully we get the wind and not the rain. I'm packing the double traps and 4 harnesses.

that one was being sailed by my brother and his son; they were picked up and taken back to MYC. the yellow one being towed in the video was mine; we had been separated from it but happened to run into it as we were headed to DI after being picked up.

Wow, scary stuff.
Did you guys get your sails down or did it hit you with everything up?

Was your boat de-masted while you were sailing or after you were separated from it?
Was that you on it being towed?

When did they recover the turtled boat (or did they) , that photo was from Sunday, right?

Yep that was me in the article. Thankfully I go to sit down and talk to the reporter and show him pictures and videos to give him the best idea of what its like out there on a Hobie 16. A good bit of stuff I had read had a good bit of misinformation.

I need to brag on how well our boat held up. If the bay had been deeper where we were then the comptip would have mostlikely not broken off from hitting the bottom. I'm guessing the water was only 6-10 feet deep where we flipped. The sail had ripped in the mast track where the aluminum and comptip come together and some battens were broken. Other than those few things that was it.
