And more to come including some videos.

A quick summary:

Weather: Amazing. Mid-70's is great for the Washington coast in July, nevermind late September. E wind Saturday 12-15 in the morning/early afternoon which died down and filled back in from the NW later, slightly lighter. Steady E wind Sunday 15-20, amazing!

Venue: The Coast Guard closed the beach and bar area at the entrance to Grays Harbor (boo!) so we sailed inside the Harbor. No swells, plenty of odd currents, still just as salty (still trying to get it out of my eyebrows). The tide and wind cooperated on Sunday to give us almost no chop even with the higher winds!

Racing: Great! Attendance was good even this late in the season, and we had some first-time racers as well. Competition was fun and the atmosphere was friendly.

Accomodations: We took over an RV park, much to the confusion of the resident fishers and surfers ("Honey, come look at this weird bunch!"). Potluck dinner was great, fresh(ly defrosted) fish was tasty, raffle was a hoot (right side "Oooooooh!", left side "Ahhhhhhhh!".

Most unexpected moment: In the middle of racing Saturday, BOOM BOOOM BOOOOOOOOOOM. Explosions! Turns out the tall ships Lady Washington (used in Pirates of the Carribean) and Queen Anne were in town and giving "Cruises and Mock Battles". Wow! We joked about sailing up and boarding them ("Yaaarrrrr!") - someone was talking with a crew member of Lady Washington's and they have a potato cannon onboard for just such an occaision. Wouldn't that be an odd insurance claim? "Reason for damage: Potato".
