MidAmerica's Regatta this weekend on Lake Lewisville, Texas. Could be interesting due to the rescheduling and new location. Should be a good turnout of 20's, 17's, and 16's. Probably a few 18's.

Is this event for Hobies only?

Gree,

This is a Hobie sanctioned event. Peggy Coe would probably be willing to school you on her 14T, if you want some competition.

John,

How many 16's are expected? What about (18-20) 20's, (10-12) 17's, half dozen 18's? :?

Any lurkers out there should definitely show up

Click on the link posted. All the info is there. Links to Dallas fleet 23 work from the NOR.

Social package available for weekend...hey, come down and enjoy the Hobie Way of Life, find out why you need to dump that 5.2 and get a 16.

Yeah, that way when I drive the bows under my boat becomes a catapult! I like my 5.2 and don't see her leaving anytime soon.

Plus if I had a 16 to race I would need a crew and that is just limiting. My 5.2 on the other hand I can race in open classes and just take a rating hit for being solo.

Nothing personal, I added a wink and a grin to the previous post and glad you're enthusiastic about sailing.

There's some great class racing right in your back yard. Hard to believe the Portsmouth could be better in your area. I guess it's what you like. One Design (OD) racing with big fleets is hard to beat for thrills. Recruit an OU sailing team member as 16 crew, you can single hand when you're not racing.

I have thought many times about buying a 16 and there is a pretty clean on close to my house that just sits there. I bet he would let it go cheap.

In all honesty I will probably pick one up in the next year or so but the 5.2 is just my boat of choice for now and works really well for my style of sailing.

I know there is some great sailing around here for the 16 but on the lake I sail on there are only 2. But there are about 10 of us that make it out regularly so portsmouth is the way we race most of the time.

FX-one. Everybody has a 16. Besides I think the FX has a killer portsmouth rating. I'm starting to keep up with the 20's a bit with the spinnaker.
