REGISTER AS A US SAILING SAILOR-ATHLETE TODAY!
Please read the release below from the US SAILING Sailor Athlete Council.

Have you raced in a National or North American Championship or a US SAILING Championship in the last ten years?

Do you see things in our sport that you would like to have changed?

If you are an active racer and compete on a regional or national level, there is something you can do about it… TODAY!

Register today as a sailor-athlete and join the hundreds of other active racing sailors who have registered, have elected the current members of the Sailor Athlete Council (SAC) and are having their voice heard at US SAILING. There are several good reasons to register today:

Elections will be held this fall 2004 for half the seats on SAC. Every registered athlete can nominate people and vote, and all A and B level athletes are eligible for election to SAC. You can view the definition of a sailor athlete at http://www.ussailing.org/sac/definition.htm

The Council has a permanent seat on the US SAILING Executive Committee and is a growing voice within US SAILING. The Council can nominate individuals to the Board of Directors, and can place registered sailor athletes throughout the organization.

2004 is an important year for our sport. It is an Olympic year, new racing rules are being finalized, a new president at ISAF will take over in the fall, and the spring ISAF meeting is in San Diego in June. There are many issues being discussed that are critical for our sport.

We are asking those who are not currently members of US SAILING to join the organization, join us by registering as a sailor athlete, and BE HEARD. At this critical time in our sport’s history, the decisions are being made that will determine our sport’s future. The voice of active, interested sailors is growing stronger by the day.

There is no cost to register as an athlete and you can do it on our website.

First, you will need to determine what level is appropriate for you. The definitions of A, B and C level sailor athletes can be found at the following link: http://www.ussailing.org/sac/definition.htm

Here is where you register:
http://www.ussailing.org/sac/Athletes/register.asp

And if you multihull sailors need to join US SAILING first, here is how you can join:
http://www.ussailing.org/multihull/ga_form.htm

Please join us!

Sincerely,
The Sailor Athlete Council

Dean Brenner (Chairman), Betsy Altman, Cory Sertl, Mark Reynolds, Hal Haenel, Louise Gleason, Bob Merrick, Susannah Carr, Ned Jones, Geoff Ewenson, Roger Cleworth

Supported by the Multihull Council, Dan Mangus, Chairman
