Today, I purchased an almost new Hobie Bravo. One of the screws on the mast base plate is sticking out. I removed the screw and cleaned out the hole but the screw still bottoms out prematurely. Do I simply add a washer or two to make up the difference or go through the trouble of delicately drilling a deeper hole to accommodate the screw? Or can I purchase a shorter screw?

Hey, good shot Rob. I never thought of posting that question on this forum. I would bet that the screw, as is, will not pose any problems. But, it will be better repaired. Hopefully someone will have the answer.

I removed all the screws and it seems that the brass insert was not fully threaded, so I made up the gap by using a couple of lock washers. One day I may use a tap to complete the job.
