I have not been able to find any photos or video of Bravos coming about, either in tack or jibe. I'd settle for a written description of the best method of physically making the maneuver(s). Does it differ in any significant respect from that of the monohulls I've sailed over the years? And how does the low boom affect the operation?

When I see how rapidly the Bravo changes direction in this movie at the 25 second mark, I am sure the Bravo is going to tack very easily.

I know I'm going to catch some stuff for this next comment...
IT TACKS JUST LIKE A LASER! Easy I've never been caught in irons, jibbing wow, hang on the boat accelerates out from under you if your not careful! when the wind picks up this is on of my favorite boats to sail, as well as the Wave and H16! The bravo has many good things about it, fits in the back of a pickup truck, easy for 1 person to maneuver on and off the water, rigging is a snap, affordable, find me a new monohull for under 3K that performs anything even close! If you can ever make it to the shop give me ahead up b-4 you get here, I'll have one loaded ready to go demo!

Well, I've never owned or sailed a catamaran, so I guess I should study up on maneuvering cats in general. Laser pilots love to roll them on a jibe. It's that crossover technique that I'd like to master.

The Bravo, in that the hulls are close together (relative to most cats) and has a single rudder, tacks similiar to a monohull. The Bravo is also forgiving when it comes to over flying the hull while pointing, e.g., the rudder is along the centerline, so if you fly too high the rudder comes out of the water and you automatically round up. 8)

That is interesting. :) So my Holder 14, Holder 9, Laser, Capri 14 experience will come in handy. Thank you very much!

Does anyone know if the old Monocat had one or two rudders? I haven't seen one on eBay recently but I don't remember ever seeing a shot of it set up before either.

I think it just had one rudder, there is one pretty close to my dads house that i have been wanting to get my hands on but the guy refuses to sell it.

Matt, that's neat! The Bravo before the Bravo. I'd debate about the indestructability of an ABS plastic hull, but...

Do you have all the old promo brochures for the boats (discontinued or not)? That would be something worth saving and making available - a Hobie Online Museum! It would be a great loss to the Hobie community if these were lost to time - they show so much about the culture of the time!
