Post subject: | 21SE rigging advice |
This weekend I rigged my boat for the first time since purchasing and never saw it rigged before. The SE is way different to the SC and therefore would appreciate only 21SE experience responses. Therefore as you can guess there were many issues that I came up too and need advice from the experienced. I have a tall pole with pulley on the trailer for stepping the mast. What line do most tie to, to raise the mast? forestay, spinnaker halyard or main halyard? I placed bungies on the sidestays to the wings to stabilize mast on the way up. Is this the best way to stabilize? If not what does everyone recommend? Is the gooseneck supposed to stay in the boom or does the gooseneck stay on the mast and the boom just pushed onto the gooseneck pin? I realize this is mostly in compression, but the slightest pull and the boom would detach from the mast/gooseneck? Rigging of the downhaul. Can someone send pictures for the rigging of the downhaul system? Does anyone have pictures of the spinnaker rigging? I have not tried to rig yet, but think help before I start would help. What is recommended righting system??? shroud extenders. righting pole, water bag, ??? This is it for this round. Thank you in advance! I hope to have on water soon. |

The goose neck stays in the boom try to find a super goose fitting and a quick release pin I use a small 6:1 downhaul block anti rotator arm goes on top of boom make sure jam cleat is secure Look in the hobie catalog for the mast erection system that you are using I have a EZ brand system which works pretty well uses gin pole on mast and uses trap wires and trailer winch to get it up Righting system is from Murrays Marine big rope with bungee cord and a few SS rings also have a shroud extension systen again from Murrays or your local friendly Hobie dealer Did you get owners book It really helped me even though I had hobies for 30 years The 21 SE is a little diferent Read my post and others on Hobie improvements |
