Have recently acquired a (new to me) 21 sc. Since beach launching has become impractical in my part of the world, I must adapt the boat to crowded ramp/ marina launching with a motor. Have a Cheeta Bracket, intend to install a Torqeedo 1003 electric motor. This model is light, fluid free, and breaks down, so it can be removed when it is not in use, but I would prefer not to be forced at all times to do so.
Most folks have recommended "long shaft" motor. Problem is "long shaft" is a nominal term without a standard exact measurement. My power boat has a "long shaft" Merc 115 of 25". My "long shaft" Yamaha 9.9 is 30". Torqeedo comes in a "short shaft" of 23" and a "long shaft" version of 28".
Question for those with related experience is, will the long shaft Torqeedo, at 28", on the Cheetah bracket, be practical? With a loaded boat, will the prop be well clear of the water when the bracket and motor are both raised?
Thanks for input, Ben
