Fixing up a '95 SC to do some sailboat camping in the North Channel off northern Lake Huron. Kinda rocky over there so anchoring off shore a bit is necessary. Form my monohull sailing days the point of attachment to the boat for the anchor rode is crucial. Way less wind age and weight on the SC but I still wonder what the original design of the SC's anchor bridle was. Where were its attachment point on the boat? Anybody know? Thinking about using the tangs on the bows for the jennaker, out in front of the jib tangs and crossbar, but I'm looking for the appropriate/strongest spot. Also if anyone has one, length and approx diameter of the bridles legs?

Thanks in advance!

Tim

You are right in that a bridle is needed for a multi-hull to properly ride an anchor. However; the SC, like all beach-cats, was not really set up to anchor and so you are inventing your own solution. I can say for sure that I would not use the tangs as they are designed for stress in a specific direction. You don't need a glass repair project after every camping trip.

Probable solution is going to be some new hardware and the points of attachment will depend on construction so... try a call to the dealer, who may call back to the manufacturer.

Best of luck. Please let us all know the results.

Yes, attached to the tangs most forward. We still have a few: 36930001 ANCHOR BRIDLE ASSY, H21SC $55.70

I beefed up my dolfinstriker bar with a 3/16ths & 1/4" aluminum flat bar stock then attached bow eyes for a Boston Whaler through bolt. I then made a rope bridle with that when under way I tie to the forward spreader bar. I moored with a 300 pound mushroom anchor in Niantic Bay, CT. As long as I tie off my halyards, tension the stays
and stop my mast rotation I've had zero issues. Two seasons so far.
