The crank handle for the boom mainsail roller furler on my 21 SC spins freely. I can still rotate the boom by hand to roll the sail up or down but...how bad do you think this is? Is something broken or simply come unattached? Pinning the handle in front of the mast still secures the boom, it just spins freely.

Thanks,

Tim

I'm not really familiar with the specifics on how the system is supposed to work, but I would say you probably need to drill out the rivets that hold the end cap on the boom to see what's going on. From the parts break down, it looks like there is just a nut on the end of the gooseneck (inside the boom) which holds the gooseneck to the end cap. Maybe it's just a matter of tightening up that nut. Or maybe there's a pin or something inside the cap that keeps the gooseneck aligned with the boom and it sheared off or fell out. I'm sure once you get the end cap off it will be pretty clear how the system works.
