Stepped mast today and found that swivel on forestay wouldn't rotate. Lowered mast, removed forestay and when I got home I discovered that the swivel mechanism had freed up and would rotate, under tension, smoothly.
Questions:
1. The swivel seems OK now. It appears that the swivel is welded and therefor hard to inspect. Is the unit likely OK for further use?
2. It looks like the swivel was sold as an "upper forestay" assembly. Is this unit still available? If not is a substitute available?
Thanks

Hard to say if it was just bound up or stuck on a flat spot. Lube it and try under load.

The H21SE upper is no longer stocked. The H20 Upper Forestay is the same length:

After seeing two of them part in the Prosail series, one was Pete Melvin's-only the second race I beat him in the whole series over several years, I switched to some Harken upper swivel, but don't remember the model. The rated capacity of all of them is listed somewhere. I remember just going with the one rated above the stock one. It made furling the jib a lot easier too. I had Murray's make up a shorter wire for it.
