Dorienc asked,
Did you shorten your jib, or are the 21SE jibs that short?
No, my new jib is the same size as my original. My sail inventory does include a storm jib that I rarely use...maybe 10 times in 30 years.
How easily does your spinnaker furl?
It takes maybe 15 seconds to furl my 404 square foot spinnaker.
What do you use to transmit the torque to the top of the spin to furl it? Like a rod or a stiff cable?
This system uses a anti-torsion cable, I think it is a Harken cable.
I really dislike the snuffer tube system I currently use, it takes forever to set up, and it often jams up when I douse the spinnaker.
I have an original Prosail spinnaker (with the Salem logo on it) that came with my boat back in 1989 and it was so difficult to use that I might have used it 20 times in 30 years. The old style spinnakers sailed only down wind within a narrow range but this new spinnaker has a huge range including windward more like a code zero............
This new design is wonderful when solo sailing.
