I am replacing my diamond wires on my mast ....and wondering....the clevis pins use cotter pins but I am thinking of going with split rings.

Is this a mistake? Talk me into it or out of it.

Thanks.

Cotter pins fit more snugly against the spreader, making it easier to tape everything up to protect your jib. I think cotter pins are slightly more reliable. Ring dings are easier to remove and are reusable. If you adjust or remove the spreaders often or if you don't have any cotter pins, use ring dings. Otherwise use cotter pins as they are slightly better in this application.
