I have a Hobie Holder 12 to sell and have no idea how much to ask for it. My dad bought it in 1986(?) for about $1200 I think. Suggestions?

Totally depends on condition and demand in your area. Look at FB marketplace and Craigslist in your area, for small daysailers. I expect that if it's in good shape, you could get $500 more or less, for it, if you are in a sailing area.
But you never know. Last fall, I was given a Sunfish and trailer in great shape, for free. It wasn't worth the aggravation for the previous owner to sell it for a few hundred dollars. I see Sunfish all the time, of similar vintage and condition, for $200 - $800.
