Post subject:  I9s Rudder Up/Down, the fix that works...

We have 2 of these I9s boats and the rudder was rigged the same on both. The handles are set up so that you pull aft to operate the lift/lower function. The glitch is that by doing that you tighten the rope/line as in makes a 180 around the wire triangle. If that was a pulley you'd get 2 to 1 advantage but instead you get a TON of friction and wear on your rope. If you instead pull forward on the other line there is no tension and the lift/lower works incredibly easily. Disassemble the line and reverse the handles and your rudder will go up and down with ease.

Hints:

The knot on the end of the small line will slip open enough to get the larger line out and back in.

The guys at the factory cut the rope end at an angle and burned it. I used that to get back through the handles easily.

3/8" shrink tube worked for finishing the one end I opened up.

See ya out there!
