We are thinking about going to Lake Superior with our I9's. We'd like to "jump" several spots in an afternoon but the thought of folding/packing every time is a bit daunting. Has anyone put inflatables on their roof rack? How did that go?

Remember to have the yaks attached by four different tiedowns... Not just the normal two.... Keeps the yak from sliding forward or backward out of the straps when the flex of the air chambers compress. Good luck with the travel.

I travel short distances around city/town or camp areas with my i9 or i12 (not at the same time) fully inflated and on top of my xterra on yakima saddle racks, sometimes daily or at least several times a week, with no problem; but for long distances or highway driving over about 40mph, I prefer to deflate and store the boat in the back rather than deal with the airflow lift and vibration, noise, flapping, etc that I get with the setup at the higher speeds.
