Larger Rudder for i-Series

We have located a number of the original larger rudder that can be used on i-Series kayaks.

Stocked as #81397101 i / QUEST - RUDDER BLADE - LARGE / TWIST-N-STOW

This rudder does not require modification for use on i-Series or Quest Twist and Stow rudder systems.

Your dealer just needs to place an order.

Thanx. They mentioned they called today and it sounds like there was confusion on ordering it. I will follow up with them to see if they can order one for me.

Thanx

My staff was confused. Going by memory instead of what is in the system. Sorry about that!

Frank, putting the sailing rudder on made the i12s much more responsive in turning. It was easier and seems to make a tighter turning radius too.

I don't know why, but it also seems to hold a straight course better. I don't have to fine tune it as much. This doesn't make as much sense to me as the easier turns do.

As far as using it with the sail, I am a COMPLETE novice with sailing. I tried the sail with the regular rudder and there were times it wouldn't even turn the kayak. The regular rudder just wasn't big enough to bite into the water to help me turn. I am still having trouble with the sail, but not with turning anymore.

The sailing rudder is a little harder (heavier) to raise and lower from the cockpit. It's doable, but it does take more effort.

I also recently bought the ST Turbo blades and that has also made a difference as well. I can go much faster, but what I really like it for is that I can pedal at a slower comfortable pace and still be moving at a decent clip.

Hope that helps!

It's more surface area in the water.

Like traction...

Cleats vs tennis shoes playing football on wet grass
Tires with treads vs bald while driving in the rain

The smaller rudder works, just doesn't respond to turns as easily as the larger blade.

Matt,

Before I ask my dealer to order, are these still available?

If not available, is there an alternative?

Thanks!
