Post subject:  I12s steering right very tight - cable twisted - warranty ?

Hi, steering my boat to the right was pretty tight from the beginning. Left side I could do with one finger, to the right I need to use the full hand and power

Last weekend I found, that the 'tube' seems to be loose or broken (!picture 1 ) and the cable inside the tube is twisted once ( picture 2)

I brought the boat to my dealer who has ( for sure ) never seen this before as well as Hobie, whom he called.

Then he started arguing about salt crystals etc ... I have a feeling they don't want to fix this on warranty, but want me to pay for it.

Has anyone had this as well with an inflatable?

You can try to undo the steering line - slip the tube out - the tube needs to be cut and flared out so it stays put - it's looking like the tube isn't cut correctly.
This would definitely be fixed (for free) under warranty - you'd just need to have the hull boxed and available for pickup - we'd take it back here to the factory and re-work it. Your dealer could file a claim - You can attempt the repair yourself first if you like, either way.

Hi, thx for responding.

This part of the tube on the first picture is loose, when I steer right, it will come out and look like this ( with some pressure it can be pushed back ). I think it is broken inside or not glued in correct.

And the twisted tube ( Picture 2 ) looks wrong to me (it's only twisted once, this must be since assembling the boat in the factory )

Anyway, let's see what happens, will call my dealer today if there is some update since I left it with them last Tuesday.

Apologize if I didn't get the response right, I am German and maybe I missed something.
