Now this really depends on what your van situation is... is it under a carport, inside a garage and the weather condition. I live in southern California, so it can get upwards of 100+ inside the car easily during the summer inside a car if left outside, so I would probably never put it in the car for an extended time in the summer, spring, or fall time. I would imagine it will degrade if left in high heat for a long time. Also it does smell pretty strongly for a bit.
Now with that said. I do take it out every Friday afternoon, slightly hose it off before stuffing it back in the trunk, drive home and park it inside a garage, now I won't drive that car until Saturday and Sunday for the next outing, we would take my wife's car. It will stay inside the car until Sunday morning when I am done with it, I would take it out and rinse it for good and dry it and put it back in the bag out of the car.
I have also done my share of traveling in minivan and camping up and down the coast during the summer back when I was in college, so I would say this... very good clear window tint that blocks UV light is a good start, and a slight ventilation using sunroof etc is also a good start if you do have to keep it in the van, also apply 303 protection thing, like once a week maybe. Might still be not enough but do what you can to keep the temp lower in the van.
