Murray River is the longest river in Australia with a total length of about 2500 km. Eucalyptus and cockatoos are the ubiquitous features. The river is quite narrow compared with other big rivers.
We pedaled the easy section downstream from Albury to Mildura using Hobie i14T inflatable kayak. There was very little danger except getting caught by the submerged snags in some swift flowing (less than 5 knots) spots.

Anybody that has paddled peddled or even drifted down the Murray immiediately makes me envious and inquisitive. I have paddled the top section and part of the lower section and would be very interested how you managed the land support vehicle logistics.
Would love to hear all about your voyage. Did you keep a diary?

I am wondering how such a long, magnificent, Murray River trip, can have such a short post :?:

Please, more details?

I have done (canoe) a section of the Lachlan on to the Murrumbidgee, a small section of the Darling, also fished via canoe around Mildura but never a trip like that and would so love to here more and see some pictures.

We had no support at all on the entire trip except friendly people along the river. We spent a few months searching the internets for all towns, all caravan parks along the river, likely good camping spots from satellite images, weirs, locks, difficult areas, food stores, etc. We studied the Murray River Charts carefully, and tediously prepared a GPS route with all essential waypoints.

We internet-ordered the i14T and had it delivered to Sydney before we flew from Hong Kong to Sydney. We hired a rental car from Sydney and drove along all the major river towns (2 days), then put everything and 1 person by the riverside and the driver dropped the car at Albury downtown and walked back.

Although we checked all 3 three air-chambers for leakage previously, after we loaded the kayak at the river we found 2 inches of water inside the front hatch. We rang our internet-dealer (near Sydney) and he relayed the dealer in Albury. The Albury dealer was extremely helpful. In 2 hours we started our trip with a swaped i14T in a different colour.

At the finish point in Mildura, we just took a taxi to the bus depot and took the Greyhound back to Sydney.
