Matt, thank you for all you've done. Your sound advice will be missed. If it's possible, post a video link of you sailing! Enjoy your retirement my friend

It has been a great run! Best to all of you, and continue with the Hobie Way of Life!

Diana Caballero will be moderator for these forums less the sailing areas. Sailing forums will now be handled by SLS:

I’m pleased to announce that I’ve partnered with the new builder and distributor of Hobie Sailboats: Starting Line Sailing (SLS). The SLS team is working at full speed to get production of boats, parts, and accessories back up and running and out to dealers globally, including operations in Europe. I’ll be serving as an advisor to them on various aspects of Hobie’s products and operations.

Moving forward, SLS will be answering all questions on these Sailing forums via their account: hobie_sls. All posts from that account will come from SLS’s team of sailors and be vetted by me to ensure the best information is being provided to the community.

We look forward to our continued interaction with the Hobie sailing community!

A quick note on Starting Line Sailing:
Starting Line Sailing owns a portfolio of companies manufacturing, distributing and retailing sailboats, parts, apparel, and accessories to support the small boat sailing community. Our team is composed of passionate sailors, experienced leaders, and owners who are focused on growing sailing by keeping it accessible and fun!

Congratulations Matt. I have enjoyed your posts on the forum and will always enjoy the old set up video as it is still a helpful bit of info. Good luck in your future endeavors!!!

Hello Matt,
I am a new member, and although you deserve congratulations on your retirement, it might be bad luck or at least bad timing for me.
I am helping a friend refurbish a 1984 Hobie 33. Sweet looking boat. Still a few around and we hope to be sailing this summer.
We have some concerns with the rudder, and have run into a problem trying to remove the tiller head to drop it down for inspection.
The manual does not address how to remove this hardware, and likely more than one typecast used in the few years the boat was being manufactured.
I have some pics of ot if I can figure out how to attach them.
Maybe you or someone can help me out anyone recognizes it.

Thanks

Vince

I don't have any technical or repair information on the Hobie 33. That was before my time at the factory and not a boat our dealership carried. There is a Hobie 33 Facebook page. Also the boat has more recently been built again by a company in the LA area.

Can it be linked to the absurd decrease on Hobie hulls and overall gears?

I'm just astonished over how many hulls are cracking these days. It's almost like if they are sent into market without proper testing...

Hi ska4fun,

If you're experiencing an issue with a Hobie boat or product, please contact your local Hobie dealer regarding a warranty claim.
