Stumbled across this Tandem Island on (I think) SF Craig’s list
3rd set of Aka’s supporting way high up rear seat, electric and gas motors, back boards for haka’s,
Looks wild

I think there's a Hobie TI somewhere underneath all of that...

Looks like it would be near the weight limit before anyone climbs on board, but at least it should be too heavy to take off when all those solid tramps/wings catch the wind. :?

Those tramps and splash guards don't appear to be mesh or have any drainage. That's not good. And there are some very sketchy hardware issues going on that I wouldn't allow on my boat. Also, the cost is sky high for a used TI.

The second (rear) mast is definitely photoshopped. see the little bit of roof left on the upper mast in the trees...

But, the Sprayskirt is real :D

Bob - is your motor water proof/nearly submersible? I imagine things can get pretty wet back there.

Interesting question.
One reason I had two motors is if a wave goes over the boat, (happens a lot in surf because the TI boats and motors are so low in the water when in surf and rough seas offshore).
The air intake on the Honda's are designed to prevent water entering the carb , basically the engine quits because it is air starved from the temporary dunking. They typically start right back up afterward. We often had one motor quit but never both at the same time.
The boat ran fine on just one motor, just not as fast.
For a while I had extension ropes on the starter that I could pull the starter ropes from the front seat, but never used them so I got rid of the extensions.
However that salt water is tough on the motors, ( they need to be well rinsed after each outing), even doing that you go thru a lot of throttle cables and such, salt water shortens the lifespan of the magneto also.
Hope this helps
