Nice work with those red spine boards Tom!

Not having to remove them is a bonus.
I'm just wondering why so far out? In that position you'd be dragging the ama when hiked out in all but the strongest of winds.

My wife was worried that I would not leave them enough trampoline to sit on with the hakas installed.

Once you've tried sitting on haka I'd be very surprised if you preferred the tramps! Haka have many advantages over the tramps - higher, drier, easier to access, easier to grab, easier to adjust seating position etc.
Tramps are great but haka are better!

My wife was worried that I would not leave them enough trampoline to sit on with the hakas installed. With the Railblaza mounts I can side the hakas inboard if the tramps aren't installed. Good idea with the swivel mounts Bob! Really nice work! Do you know how much weight thoose swivel mounts can handle if you stand on the edge of the spine board. Any risk of beraking them? All the best! /Gustav

I'm sure I will sit on them myself. I made up some PVC supports using 1 1/4" x 1" tees cut into saddles. The 1 1/4" snaps right over the aka bar. I then used a 3/4" slip to 3/4" threaded adapter. The 3/4" slip end loosely fits into the 1" portion of the tees. The 3/4" threaded end then mates with a 3/4" saddle tee that is perpendicular to the 1 1/4" homemade saddle tees. The 3/4" saddle fits right onto one of the underside ribs on the spine board. When I want to fold everything up I just rotate the supports out of the way. Yep, tide. It was 11.7 to -.02 that day. Almost 12 feet. Of note, I am going to get some beach rollers that will work better on uneven rock than the slide over driftwood method. We also haul out with 250 feet of line or anchor and paddle board in. That island has horrible anchor bottom and a tidal current that is impressive! Better to haul sometimes. I got around to taking pictures of my PVC supports. I made 2 for the rear and 2 for the front. Right now I'm only going to use the rear unless further testing dictates. Since the boards narrow at one end it almost ends up being supported tripod style. I don't envision much weight to the front anyhow. The first pictures are the rear supports, followed by a shot of how they snap on and swivel out of the way and finally a picture of the front supports. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk

Hakas!! New delivery today, the spine boards I ordered from a surplus company in Germany arrived. They are a bit scuffed and scratched but otherwise in very good condition. No cracks or sign of hard use. The "military look" will look pretty cool ... I hope! I just put them loosley in place on the akas to check them out... wow.. they really do makes the TI look larger somehow? The underside is pretty flat so for starters I will just strap them onto the akas and maybe later work out a better sollution to keep them better in place. Disadvantages.....? Well this ads another 20Lbs to my "Yak"! It sure will be interesting to see how the TI will sail with the extra weight?

Got to test out the hakas last weekend. They worked pretty well especially for the kids. I'm a little too heavy for the current mounting setup. Even with the PVC support I produced enough torque on the railblaza swivel ports to pop them out. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk

Mine are made of fiberglass slatted planks. Used on offshore oil rigs. Yoga mats on top. Had them over a year. They are mounted with camera lighting mounts, this allows them to swivel so i never have to remove. Also they are strong enough to hold my weight 200 lbs standing in the middle. Those haka look good LCB, nice work! We’ve had wood, aluminium, steel and plastic haka and now you have introduced fibreglass planks. Any more details, links etc? I’d like to know a bit more about them.
