Finally got some results from the 3D titanium printing exercise I spoke about. The technology probably isn’t there yet for what we require due to a rough 200um surface finish, however for most Hobie parts this technology would be ideal ( when the price comes down ). Give it a few years and I’m sure there will be massive changes in the way items are designed and manufactured. Shapes that were possible to design using CAD but were impossible to manufacture using conventional methods such as lathes, mills or EDM etc, are now possible using a printer.

Spec's. - 1050 uts / 970 yield.

Please see the AI seat hole siphon pump one way valve hack to cure wetass and 3D print those. I will pay $25 for a set or will trade laser cutting services for a fellow maker.

Another fascinating thread I had missed until now.
I think I must have been in outer space last year :roll:

I would also like three sets of those siphon pump valves and would pay the nominated figure or them.

Is it easier to do a batch run rather than a small quantity??

Nope, but for $20, I'll go and buy a syphon and cut the one-way valves out and post 'em :lol:

Very fair offer. Even though the siphons might be cheap and figuring 1/2 hr of your time to fab 2 of them by hand that is a deal! Still would be fascinating to see how the 3D printer will solve the problem. You can 3D print fully assembled fully functional hinged assemblies with great accuracy. The art is creating the design and 3D file to print.

Happy to do it.. being an OAP, I have plenty of time when the wind is too strong for sailing or fishing, so time is not a problem. PM me if you want me to buy up the local Bunnings stock. I think you will have to supply your own goop tho :)

If I did it I would have to model it on CAD like I did with the model of the nozzle above. Then book a time for the printer to do it. ( It's printing out pump parts as we speak ). I would want to also try it out and test it so this process will take a while and I'm snowed under at the moment. The Bunnings option may be a quicker option ( if it works ) Mickey and Tony.
