Hey,

In high winds last week it became obvious that the rudder doesn't exert enough control in high winds. Anyone tried a bigger rudder. Making one out of Carbon fiber would be easy enough.

Lee, I don't believe just making a bigger rudder is the way to go. If the current rudder is not powerful enough, this is due to there being too much sail out. Try reducing sail a bit and balance (and speed) will improve.

Or the boat isn't balanced well. Solo on the TI in the front seat the stern is almost out of the water and the rudder loses it's grip.

Hakas will keep you balanced in any wind. You'll still need to reef if riding solo on the TI.

What is this reef everybody keeps talking about? Is it a really good fishing spot or something?

I guess "Real Men" don't discuss it.

Is that some sort of little reefer?
Is someone who covers a furlong called a furler?
How do I stop my mast turning?
My fins keep bending when I pedal. How do I make them stiff?
My auto drains on the hulls don't seem to work, should I close them when sailing?
Enquiring minds need to know these things
