fusioneng: I had been wondering if that's what that screen material was in your shots of your bowsprit.

I was thinking that putting stays down to all 4 loops of the outriggers, without any tension whatsoever, and using the cup holders would make good attach points for a tarp/Bimini. You could cut it to shape and cut a hole for the furled mast. Put Velcro on the slit needed to be cut to get the mast in the tarp.... Would be pretty sweet to have some shade from the San Antonio sun when I've stopped to eat/swim.

After today, 4th time out, I need sprayskirts too. Wife not happy.

+1 on KayakingBob's spray skirts. I love mine! Very well made and the instructions for install were spot on.

Can someone tell me if there is a significant difference between the kayakbob spray skirt for the tandem island, compared to the pair for sail on Amazon from Tampa Cataramans ($119)? The installation for the kayak bob spray skirt looks pretty complicated, with 33 steps.

Thanks

Not complicated as much as thorough. :) Updated from many years of users questions, comments and suggestions.

The basic install is about 20 minutes. It sometimes takes longer to get the Sprayskirt unpacked and orientated than to install it.

Any questions, just email me.

Thanks Bob,
Can you tell me how yours is significantly better than the $119 version currently on sale on Amazon. I don’t doubt the quality of your product. I just honestly don’t know why one is better than the other. Thanks!

Ours is made from shade cloth which is lighter material and blocks most fo the water coming from an angle (bow wave) but lets water drain quickly strait down through so doesn't weigh-down the bow. Also, wind easily flows through it so minimal wind load of the bow so little effect on steering.

Plus, ours is the original design, refined through over 10 years of use and feedback.

My wife, Dee has retired from making our Kayaking Bobs Sprayskirts. We have one grey Sprayskirt left and then they are all gone.

Aloha to all that have enjoyed what we have created and I will leave up the instructions and the original Sprayskirt pattern for anyone who wishes to make their own for a while on my website. It's been fun. Thank you! KB

Thanks Kayaking Bob! Could you post the pattern here?

Hey Matt Miller, how about Hobie pick up the production & send Bob & Dee a few bucks for each one sold?

Lots of margin in that item esp at Hobie scale, and well suited for people who will sail in choppy water...

Their skirts are Hobie quality items, carefully evolved / field tested etc.

I believe Matt has retired along with Bob and Dee....

Bob / Dee - If you can share the pattern....perhaps I can convince my wife (who is a commercial seamstress) to pick up production going forward.... My last TI that I sold included a set of Kayak Bob's spray skirts.... my new 2022 TI is skirtless....

Thoughts?

Oh that's too bad about Matt. That's a loss to Hobie.

With new owners, I wonder what their commitment level is to the TI? Or any sailing craft for that matter....Im sure the margins are much better in tubby plastic fishing kayaks...

Yes, it appears Matt has retired.

It's also a loss to this forum. Matt took great care of us here for many years, he will be missed. I don't know who replaced him or if anyone will now answer here for Hobie anymore.

I bought some of Kayak Bob’s spray skirts I guess shortly before they retired, but didn’t get them installed yet. Unfortunately, the installation instructions were “on the website,” which is now defunct, so I don’t know how to install them. Does anyone have the directions or current contact info for Bob?
