Currently fitting a replacement sounder to a 2012 AI and interested to hear where people are fitting the transducer? I previously had it between the mast step and the mirage drive well, but curious to hear where other people fit theirs? Nearer the rear of the hull for example. |

I started out with mine placed the same as yours. I had problems with loosing my depth reading when conditions became rough and that area of the boat was leaving contact with the water. That was in a TI soloing from the rear seat. I moved the transducer to under the rear seat. I cut out a small piece of the flotation so it is covered and protected. I rarely loose depth since the move. I realize my "problem" probably doesn't apply to an AI, but just wanted to point out that transducers seem to work fine mounted in the rear of a boat. I just made my maiden voyage with a Garmin DownVu unit this weekend and it works fine in that location as well. |

Mione is mounted in thje rear scupper of my TI, using the Lowrance scupper mount kit. I am conscious that depth readings are from over 10 feet from the bow, but watch for shoaling depths so I don't damage the Miraedrive fins if approachng land. |

Thanks guys. Kind of confirmed my thinking. I was getting the saw tooth image of the bottom on the screen due to the bow getting a bit of air on waves. Plus I figured that if the transducer comes supplied with a transom mount, then........... Looks like it will be going under the seat. |
