2015 AI Mods.

Here are some of the mods I have done to my 2015 AI.
Added Railblaza mounts for rod holders and camera, plus spray skirts.
Changed the sheet and furling line cam cleats so ropes are easier to manage and added a Ronstan cheek block where the furling jam cleat used to be.


Lined the front hatch so things don't bounce around.


Extra security latch for the seat.


Two new leash points just under the front of the seat. There was a distinct lack of them to leash all your fishing gear.


Replaced the blocks at the sail and the stern with larger Ronstan bearing blocks. Makes triming the sail much easier, especially in strong winds. Also included a longer sheet line so when fishing you can relax the line more so it is out of the way..



Replaced the cheek Block with a larger Ronstan block, and moved it further towards my new control line cam cleats.

All looks very nice, but do you have a backing plate to help support the Yakattack rail because wind gust can impose a lot of pull on the cam cleat.

just an opinion.. I think those rails would be fine without a backing plate as the force from the sheet and furler would try and sheer the screws rather than pull them out. Plus there are numerous scews. If the force is trying to pull the screws out (I dont think it is in this particular case).. best use a backing plate.

Always use a backing plate. Always. There is never a reason to not use a backing plate. I have seen cleats ripped off powerboats because "all I need is a screw". At the very least use a nut and bolt and throw a large washer under the gunwale. Fiberglass is much stronger than plastic too.

My first mod is going to be designed today. I want to put on a 2.5 hp kicker.

The new blocks are all 29mm, right?
