scc you can test it in your driveway by releasing the aka brace and pulling back on the aka/ama. A picture would be great.

Good idea. I'll try to post something this weekend.

I don't have any photos, but, in the driveway, with the line tensioned just enough to take out slack, I was able to pull the aka at the elbow a distance of 7 inches aft. Not scientific, but the line does give.

Thanks, scc. Yes, your line does "give," but doesn't really stretch. If it satisfies you, that is all that counts. In the event one has a severe accident (collision) where these various "safety lines" come into play, we may get a chance to see what works and what doesn't. Hopefully, people will post their experiences, so that we all learn.

See you on the water...

Keith

FYI
SCC: I tried to reply to your PM twice, but am not sure the board is working for me..... my second attempt is just sitting in "Outbox".... and nothing ever made it to "Sent".....

I also have trouble posting replies to threads .... maybe 2 out of three make it and the third one just never gets out there.

So here's a copy of what I tried to send:

I have a TI on a Rack and Roll. I used aluminum strut to create a frame which I bolted to the trailer crossmembers. This allowed for optimum placement of the cradles. I actually unbolt the frame and use an electric winch mounted on my garage ceiling to hoist the TI and frame so I can park my car beneath.
I would like very much to see some pix of that. .... I have been thinking about a separate dolly for my TI that integrates with the Rack-and-Roll .... sort of in the spirit of this implementation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c1xuRFzLeik...... Except that he seems to have an advantage in the trailer bed being much closer to the ground. ..... And I am still not sure how he gets the TI back on to the wheels/dolly after sailing.

... do you notice a lot of bounce when towing your AI? If so, do you think the upgraded springs would make a noticeable difference given the long lever arm of these boats?
I do not perceive any excessive bouncing. ..... OTOH my AI's 220# all-up weight is well within my 66" trailer's 250# capacity. ..... Maybe the heavier-duty springs also have stiffer shocks.... "?

Also, can't see your photos of your trailer setup on picasa. Is there an updated link?
Try this: https://picasaweb.google.com/1081497986 ... 4404013970 .... Keep hitting RightArrow to see the rest of the pix. .... Let me know if you cannot get to it.
